Emma’s Story
Emma is a wonderful example of what you can achieve if you inform yourself as much as possible, and take the power back when it comes to your body and birth!
Emma contacted me in 2023, as she was looking for additional support during this pregnancy due to the events that occurred during her first birth in a hospital setting.
Emma planned to free birth her baby at home this time, and we had several discussions throughout the pregnancy regarding planning for this. She did extensive research into her own personal situation, and knew exactly what she wanted. Emma was very organised and planned everything down to the last detail. She even created a wonderful flow chart for her care, if the labour took a different course. In October 2024 she gave birth in the comfort of her own home in the pool, with me and her partner present. Shortly after we called midwives to come and check mum and baby were well, and in the early hours of the morning I left them to rest and enjoy their new arrival.

Thank you, Lou, for all of your wisdom, your calming and reassuring presence, and the friendship over the last year or so! Being one for planning, I initially reached out to Louise early in a pregnancy which unfortunately ended in miscarriage. Lou was kind and supportive during that time, and when I fell pregnant again I knew I wanted to rebook her.
